THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!
This is the first public reading of Elektra Problematika, a reinvention of the Greek tales of the House of Atreus. At times a tragedy, at times a queer, madcap comedy, this new work promises to bring all the pathos of the original stories, and then some laughs.
The script received a Fellowship Award at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The judge, poet Prageeta Sharma, called the play "timely, bold, spirited, comedic, and chancy... very fresh and innovative."
Emilio Williams' work was most recently seen at Steppenwolf 1700 in Teatro Vista's ¡Bernarda!, a new take on Lorca, directed by Wendy Mateo. The show was noted by critics as thrilling, intense, beautiful, blunt, stylish, and sexy. (Wow!)
Elektra Problematika's cast will include, in alphabetical order:
Ana María Álvarez Charín Álvarez Tony Castillo Adelina Feldman-Schultz Sándor Menéndez Aysette Muñoz Claudia Quesada Brandon Rivera and Daniel Suárez
