Audience quotes (unsolicited)  Cromarty - June 2023
A great night, Adam was funny and his live performance brilliant
Very powerful, I was moved to tears by his Wild Mountain Thyme

Adam Holmes cut his teeth in the world of folk music.
Taking a space at the end of the bar in legendary Edinburgh folk pub Sandy Bells at eight years old to soak up the music.
Age 15, the death of a close friend led to a cascade into addiction.
Leaving school and moving out of the family home age 16 he worked in the construction trade by day and battle-rapped by night.
He found his way out through the focus of rapping until a singer booked didn't show, whereupon Adam stepped up and discovered his singing voice.

Then, on the very same day he was finally offered a carpentry apprenticeship aged 19, Adam received a phone-call offering him a place in the semi finals of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2009.

He hasn't looked back since!

Adam Holmes lyrics resonate like ancient folk songs, his melodies familiar and uplifting. Its not unusual to well-up during his live shows which have the feel of a boozy church service.

Adams new album 'Hope Park'  his fifth - was released with a solo concert at Celtic Connections festival in January 2023. The album features some of Scotlands best musicians and a visual release with Scottish writers Ian Rankin, Irvine Welsh and Darren McGarvey.
His five albums have gained him Scottish Album of the Year Nominations three times and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominations.

Heirs and Graces (2013) produced by JOHN WOOD (John Martyn/Nick Drake producer)
Brighter Still (2016)
Midnight Milk (2017)
Dreamweaver (2020)
latest album, Hope Park (2023)

Adams songs have featured on ...
BBC Radio 2

And his masterful writing and enchanting voice has seen him work and share stages with
Adrian Utley (Portishead) :: Anais Mitchell :: Aidan Moffat :: Becky Unthank (The Unthanks) :: Dominic Aitchison (Mogwai) :: Graham Coxon (Blur) :: John Prine :: John McCusker :: Karine Polwart :: Ladysmith Black Mambazo :: Martin Green (Lau) :: Martin Simpson
