Asheville Drag Brunch presents a hilariously fun fundraiser, Divine Intervention-- The Game Show, at New Belgium Brewhouse at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. The doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. No videos or recording allowed. Appropriate for ages 18 and up. All profits will go to Blue Ridge Pride 501(c)3. "Divine Intervention" is an hour-long hilarious "Family Feud" style guessing game with a drag queen host, real audience participation, saucy side-commentary, tacky prizes, and drag performances. This interactive show has been devised and directed by Asheville Drag Brunch. New Belgium brews will be available for sale.
The show is set during a fictional, long-running TV game show, placing the audience in the role of the studio audience and then adding drag queens as hosts. That's a recipe for fun! Real audience members are chosen as the contestants of the game and they win fabulously tacky prizes. In addition to watching and really playing the game show, the audience also witnesses a dragstravaganza of silly commercial breaks and pop-up drag performances by special guests. The show certainly makes fun of the garish gameshow genre.
All profits from Asheville Drag Brunch events are donated to over 15 local non-profits including Beloved Asheville, Blue Ridge Pride, Healing Solutions Counseling, Loving Food Resources, Open Hearts Arts, Make a Wish Foundation, OUR Voice, Youth OUTright, and more.
"Im excited about the largest cast weve ever had this year, including some stellar performers. Our shows are a blast and have sold out almost every time so get your tickets now," says producer and performer Divine Holeburn. "This event is a fundraiser, yes, but it is also an opportunity to showcase our incredible local performers, restaurants, and bars, while helping the community.
