Talk to the Authors: Reconceptualizing Faculty Development in Service-Learning and Community Engagement
This series of two interactive webinars will feature the four editors of Reconceptualizing Faculty Development in Service-Learning and Community Engagement.
June 29 Webinar
Fostering the creative imagination in S-LCE faculty development through disruption: COVID 19 and beyond
In this interactive webinar, participants will explore how to apply backwards design frameworks to craft programs around student, partner, community, and faculty outcomes; explore a variety of creative pedagogical methods for online S-LCE work; identify new, sustainable opportunities for virtual community engagement, faculty development, and community-building; and reflect on their role in modeling the same creative pedagogies they hope their faculty will employ.
August 5
Fostering S-LCE faculty development spaces to center antiracist pedagogy
During our time together, participants will have an opportunity to explore their social identities and positionality in relation to antiracist S-LCE work and how to translate that into the spaces they create with faculty; what antiracist pedagogy and abolitionist teaching entail for S-LCE through antiracist frameworks; and the literature on how authentic community engagement practices are core to realizing the antiracist commitments our institutions make. We will conclude by creating space for participants to craft an action plan that applies core tenets of antiracist and abolitionist work to their own (and their institutions) fall S-LCE planning.
