We're celebrating 30 years of igniting a passion for music!
Join us as we celebrate 30 years of providing a vibrant musical education and performance opportunities for the youth of Central Maryland. Our young musicians will warm your hearts and delight you with their passion for music.
Our afternoon performance features five of our marvelous ensembles--the Junior Flute and Wind Ensembles, and Preparatory, String, and Concert Orchestras--each taking the stage to perform several of their favorite selections.
Our evening performance offers a unique combination of flute choir, jazz, and classical music, reflecting the diversity of music ensembles that we offer. The evening begins with an ensemble made up entirely of flutes, our Senior Flute Ensemble. We are later joined by well-known guest artists to perform with our Symphony Orchestra and our Jazz Ensemble. Virgil Boutellis-Taft, hailed by critics as intense, brilliant, sumptuous sonority, with impressive virtuosity will be performing Tchaikovskys Sérénade mélancolique and Saint-Saëns Danse Macabre with our Symphony Orchestra. He is coming hot off a recording stint with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, and appearing with the Berlin Philharmonic in April. Our evening concert also features the talented trumpeter, Graham Breedlove, who comes from Louisiana jazz country and is a member of the United States Army Blues Big Band. He will be performing with our Jazz Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra in a rousing medley tribute to the great Louis Armstrong.
Prior to each performance, please join us for a catered reception and silent auction where several of our alumni will entertain you. This year's raffle is an adventure-filled 7-day Harry Potter getaway to England. The lucky winner and guest will enjoy luxury hotel accommodations with a full English breakfast every morning and a 5-day car rental. The week will be filled with Harry Potter walking tours in London, Oxford, and Edinburgh; a London studio visit; visits to Hardwick Hall and Alnwick Castle; plus a North Yorkshire Moors Railway trip.
$5 raffle tickets can be purchased at the Gala and, if preferred, the winner can choose an Apple Smart Watch in place of the trip. The drawing takes place after the evening intermission and ticket holders do not need to be present to win.
Help us spread the word. This is an event we are sure you will enjoy.
