About: Join award winning editor of "Of Fathers and Sons", Anne Fabini, for an exploration of her films and discussion of her craft. Nominated for Best Documentary Film at the 2019 Academy Awards and Film Independent Spirit Awards, and winner of the Grand Jury Prize for World Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, Of Fathers and Sons is a work of unparalleled intimacy that captures the chilling moment when childhood dies and jihadism is born.
Anne Fabini has been editing notable feature films and documentaries since 1999. Her most recent work is the Academy Award® nominated documentary OF FATHERS AND SONS by Syrian director Talal Derki. Their collaboration dates back to his 2014 Sundance Film Festival World Documentary Grand Jury Award winner RETURN TO HOMS.
Anne Fabini is part of the 2019 Spirit Awards nominated editing team of Jennifer Foxs fiction film THE TALE. She is the editor of Chad Hartigans MORRIS FROM AMERICA, winner of two awards at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. HOUSTON (2013) by Bastian Günther premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in the World Drama Competition.
She is winner of the prestigious German Film Critics Award for Best Editing. Her work has been nominated several times for Best Film Editing at the German Film Awards (2009- BERLIN CALLING, 2013- MORE THAN HONEY, 2014- HOUSTON).
Passionate about passing on her knowledge, she hosts a series of lectures and talks on film editing at the Berlin film school dffb. She often works as an editing tutor at international documentary workshops and is a member of Rough Cut Service.
--- This workshop and film screening are part of and the winners are a Goethe-Institut and the German Film Academy are presentation showcasing feature films, documentaries, and short films that represent the diversity, history, and progress of German language filmmaking. Selected films are from the winners and nominees of the prestigious German Film Awards 2019 and the First Steps Awards 2018.
