Filé Gumbo
Filé Gumbo - played their unique blend of Louisiana musical styles on Tuesdays at the New Orleans Restaurant in Seattle's Pioneer Square for 15 years! The group has made 7 CDs and has appeared with Queen Ida, Katie "Queen of the Swamp Boogie Piano" Webster, Buckwheat Zydeco, the Sundogs, Little Charlie & The Nightcats,  and Asleep At The Wheel, as well as appearing on TV, radio and at a number of music festivals over the years. Whether it's Rockin' Cajun, Zydeco Soul, New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Swamp Pop, Dixieland, Country Blues, Tex-Mex, Western Swing or other Southern idioms, Filé Gumbo makes you feel like you're on the bayous of Southwestern Louisiana or Eastern Texas, and it's party time!

Singer/ Accordionist Doug Bright "the Sultan of Squeeze" began his public music career on Stan Boreson's "King Klubhouse" TV show (KING-5 TV, Seattle) in 1958! Doug also made his first record as The Authentics in the early '70s. Lead guitar man/ vocalist extrordinaire Orville Johnson appeared in the film "Georgia" (and has produced/played on dozens of albums) and group songwriter and guitarist/washboard player Marc Bristol had one of his songs recorded by Rockabilly star Ronnie Dawson in 1996 ("Sucker For A Cheap Guitar" - which appears on the CD Big Big Love by Filé Gumbo). Both Marc and Orville played festivals in England in the year 2000. Marc has performed in Europe several times since, and Orville tours the U.S. with songwriter Mark Graham. (Orville's stand in with Filé Gumbo Dan Taylor was foremerly with the Blues Orbiters and has recorded with Seeds frontman Sky Saxon. He fronts his own band the New Rhythmatics, but has been playing about half the Filé Gumbo gigs the last 10 years or so)

Retired bass player Rob Moitoza (on the CD "Travelin' Mood) played with legendary Bay Area group the Sons of Champlin, and also with Kiki Dee, Spencer Davis and others. His replacement, Joe Anderson, has played with Marc since about 1987, and worked in the San Luis Obispo, CA area behind such luminaries as Big Joe Turner. Newer drummer Bob Merrihew is the younger brother of original F.G. drummer Les, and toured Europe with jazzman Lonnie Williams. Bring your dancin' shoes!

The group has recieved enthusiastic responses from radio across the West, and made a splash on the "beach music" charts in the Carolinas as well - their version of "I Like It Like That" (from the 1992 album "Bon Ton Two Tone") reached #16 while staying on the charts for months in '96. We hear they're "shaggin" to a few songs from "Big Big Love" now! The band's CD "Mardi Gras In New Orleans" made it to #2 on the charts of German magazine Blues News! Filé Gumbo's fourth CD, titled Travellin' Mood, is out and available now! Since that one we've released two live CDs: "Live At Louisianathon" and "Live All Over The Place.
