Sema is a powerful ritual of music, poetry, and synchronized movement that has inspired humanity with sacred beauty. The ceremony embodies the journey of the soul, weaving visual and musical elements into an experiential engagement with the Divine. In their traditional tall felt hats and flowing white garments, turners whirl in unison, attuning to the music of the heart and the live Turkish ensemble. We invite you to participate with us in this practice of deep listening, become filled with the energy of blessing, and create a space of healing for all of creation.
The inspired poetry of Rumi takes us to another dimension. Something opens our wings. Something makes boredom and hurt disappear. Someone fills the cup in front of us: We taste only sacredness.-Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi
This event is co-sponsored by the Mevlevi Order of America and KBOO community radio. KBOO Community Radio is listener supported, volunteer created radio- bringing you news, information, and great music from around the world and our own backyards for more than 50 years.
