The Bathtub Girls ** TORONTO PREMIERE **
KAIROS Theatre presents the Toronto premiere of 'The Bathtub Girls' as a part of The Assembly Theatre's 2019 curated season. Join us for this award-winning show, May 21st - June 1st!

'The Bathtub Girls' is a fiction loosely inspired by the first documented case of sibling matricide in Canada. Two sisters, encouraged by their friends, drown their mother in the bathtub of their family home. We join the girls in their irreconcilable waking nightmare of survival and atonement, which began long before we arrived, and which we have no power to stop. When the water stills, the doors broken down, the body carried away, who do we punish?
Who do you judge?

Though the play is inspired by a piece of recent history, the characters and events of the play are imagined. The members of KAIROS have built characters based on their own experiences and imaginations in order to examine the consequences of neglecting young people in their times of need. This damage can last through generations. It is culturally necessary that we uplift the stories and needs of young people; it is our responsibility to help them cultivate tools for their future. 'The Bathtub Girls' is an effort to wake people to this necessity.
