March 21-23, 2019
9am - 4pm (each day)

Edenton Street United Methodist Church

Raleigh, NC 27603

This intensive three day workshop will provide information about Fetal Alcohol/ Neurobehavioral Conditions (FA/NB) and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on the brains and behaviors of children, adolescents, and adults.

FASD is a brain-based, neurobehavioral condition with behavioral symptoms. The workshop will teach a best practices approach for increasing understanding of FA/NB, reducing frustration, and expanding options. Case examples of successful accommodations are central to this training.  The training is based on the FASCETS   Neurobehavioral Model, which was developed by Diane Malbin, the mother of two children exposed to alcohol in utero.

NCFASD Informed is pleased to welcome Wendy Brown, who recently moved from Idaho to North Carolina, as the presenter of this workshop.  She holds a BS in Business Management and Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in education. She is skilled in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Trauma-Informed Parenting, and in working with medically-challenged children. It is her work with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) that she finds the most rewarding.

As a certified trainer of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model, Wendy enjoys helping caregivers and community partners learn to think differently when working with those challenged by FASD or other neurobehavioral challenges. Wendy currently works for Eastern Washington University through the Family Resource and Training Center as a mentor to foster families.

Wendy and her husband are raising 'ours-theirs-theirs' family of nine young people; starting with five children by birth, the Browns became parents to over 80 children through foster care and adoption.
