The Great American Songbook and All That Jazz
Directed by Lenny King, creator and former director of the Chicago Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and featuring popular Sinatra-styled vocalist Vito Maynes, the AZ Swing Kings Orchestra comprises 19 professional musicians who each have had impressive careers of their own performing the big band swing/jazz style of music in Las Vegas, on Broadway and around the world.
"The Great American Songbook refers to the golden age of songwriting, when many of the most important & influential American popular songs of the 20th century became hits that turned into standards. This program will feature the music of famous composers such as: Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, George Gershwin, Billy Strayhorn, Johnny Mercer, and others.
Music selections will include: Angel Eyes, Night and Day, Sway, All of Me, The Lady is a Tramp, Nancy, Witchcraft, Siing-Sing-Sing, The Way We Were, Who's Sorry Now, In the Mood, When the Saints Go Marchin' In, Moten Swing, April in Paris, Here's That Rainy Day, Take the "A" Train, My Way, Shiny Stockings, American Patrol, Yesterdays, Hey There, But Beautiful, Yesterdays, and several others.
