The Performance Project at University Settlement presents
An Upstream Artists Collective production of

Trash Lord: Domestication
by Sophia Valera Heinecke,a 2017 Performance Project Fellow

A workshop production by
Upstream Artists Collective & Experimental Bitch

Sophia just went through a bad breakup. Weve all been there, but this is a game changer Youre invited to witness a reconsideration of many personas that comprise Sophia, a self proclaimed Trash Lord, whos tidied up too much, and even been domesticated, to fit under the arm of a man that probably never wanted her at all.

Trash Lord: Domestication by Sophia Valera Heinecke explores the politics of self-sacrifice and modern relationships that is both poetic and provocative as Sophia, a scavenger by nature, invites you in to observe a gender experiment conducted by Jane Goodall that pits sociology against biology. How far will one woman go to modify her behavior in the hopes of finding a partner?

Audiences are asked to bring a relic of a previous relationship or otherwise deeply felt rejection. Something you would be comfortable leaving at theater of the Trash Lord. We promise to send it off with the respect it deserves. We know, its hard. Come pray to the altar of the Trash Lord.
