What is This? A Few Common Clinical Oral Pathology Challenges
THE DATE - Tuesday, March 13, 2018 THE TIME - Dinner 5:30 pm, Lecture 7:00 9:00 pm THE PLACE -The Log Cabin, Holyoke, MA
THE TOPIC: Some common symptomatic oral mucosal conditions can present with superficially similar clinical features. For clinicians (and their affected patients), this can generate diagnostic challenges with implications for appropriate disease management. However, if we can recognize the classic historical and clinical distinguishing features of these diverse conditions, and understand why or how they happen, we are more likely to arrive at correct diagnoses, and offer our patients the most appropriate treatment options. Through illustrative cases we will select a few frequently encountered diseases characterized by oral mucosal ulceration, and compare and contrast their classic clinical presentations, histories, and the diagnostic features that help us to distinguish them from one another.
THE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, attendees will: 1.Know the classic clinical-historical features of a few frequently encountered ulcerative and blistering oral mucosal conditions 2.Know the distinguishing differences among conditions that can appear clinically similar 3.Know the correct approach to establishing diagnoses 4.Know the options for appropriate disease management and follow up
