ART, A play by Yasmina Reza
The Actor's Center of Asheville is happy to be partnering with Front Porch Theatre and Black Mountain Center For The Arts in presenting Yasmina Reza's award winning play, Art. The cast is made up of a well rounded trio of seasoned and talented actors, with Kevin Patrick Murphy as Yvan, Robert Dale Walker as Serge and Dan Clancy as Marc. Asheville Citizen Times writer, Jim Cavener applauded,

"Whatever the source of the excellence, three men  Robert Dale Walker, Kevin Patrick Murphy and Dan Clancy  all shine in their roles."

This Critically acclaimed play, written by the French playwright Yasmina Reza, was translated from French to English shortly after its creation. Art earned the Tony award for Best Play in 1998, shortly after beginning It's Broadway run, and has received rave reviews across the world.

"a nonstop cross-fire of crackling language, serious issues of life and art expressed in outbursts that sound like Don Rickles with a degree from the SorbonneReza is a fiendishly clever writer'ART' sounds like a marriage of Molière and Woody Allen" Newsweek.

Art focuses on the meaning of well...art (in the form OF a solid white painting), as well as the meaning of friendship to both the man who bought the painting, and the two friends who come to see it. Jeff Messer of Mountain Xpress said

"The Actor's Center of Asheville make a stunning debut with the Tony-winning play, Art, by Yasmina Reza. In full disclosure, Art is one of my favorite plays of the past 20 years, and I performed in a production of it in 2007. I've seen a few other productions of the show, all of which I disliked enormously. Luckily, the cast of The Actor's Center nailed it, from every outlandish comic beat to every sincere examination of friendship."

Doors are at 7pm. Show starts at 7:30pm at The Black Mountain Center For The Arts, in Black Mountain, NC.
