A Story About Wendy
by Sean Hodgkinson
Dramatic Comedy
Trinidad & Tobago | 2012

A Story About Wendy, a "dramedy," tells the story of Wendy Phillips, a young lady whose life spirals out of control after she is jilted.  Forced to move back in with her parents, Wendy's mother and her childhood best friend, Giselle, are concerned about Wendy's new BFF, "deviant" Sylvia.  Wendy hopes landing a job with TV host Simone Davies, will help her get back on her feet, but Simone has other plans for her.

Since we last screened this film, the feature film, "A Story About Wendy 2," has been made, and will debut at this year's Zanzibar International Film Festival, in Tanzania.  So, we decided to share it with our viewers again, in anticipation of the release of the feature.

Dramatic Short
Martinique/Guadeloupe, 2013

This multi-award winning film made its US debut at the Brooklyn International Film Festival.  The film's awards include "Best Short Film" and "Audience Choice Awards," at the Bahamas International Film Festival (2013), Tahiti Film Festival (2013), Santo Domingo Film Festival (2014), and the Lakeshorts International Short Film Festival (2014).

Noka: Keeper of Worlds
by Shaun Escayg
Fantasy
Trinidad & Tobago, 2014

Eight-year-old Gabriel has been treated for a rare form of schizophrenia all his life; a disease he inherited from his recently deceased grandfather. While attending his grandfather's funeral, Gabriel encounters an old "friend of the family" who claims Gabriel and his grandfather weren't sick at all but are instead gatekeepers for an unseen supernatural realm. Gabriel must abandon all he knows and loves to fulfill his purpose, his legacy, as a NOKA.

This film could very well be the first of its time, mixing live action with VFX - it is a real visual treat, especially coming from a Caribbean storyteller.
