Benefits Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund; part of the Music for Peace Series.

Nicholas Kitchen, Violin

Nicholas Kitchen, founding first violinist of the Borromeo String Quartet, presents upwards of 100 concerts each season at festivals, in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan. A full time faculty member at the New England Conservatory of Music, he received the Arion Award for Extraordinary Contributions to Musical Culture from the Cambridge Society for Early Music. in 2011. The award was presented at a concert where Kitchen performed the Sonatas and Partitas of J. S. Bach. Kitchen has created programs to enable those with extreme physical handicaps to communicate through the computer; innovative educational programs about music using computer animation; and a curriculum called MathaMusica for students to use musical structure to gain mathematical and scientific insight. In 2003 he founded Living Archive, a company devoted to recording the unique energies of live performance. He has also transcribed keyboard works of Bach, Brahms, and jazz pianist Bill Evans for string quartet.

Yeesun Kim, Cello

Yeesun Kim teaches cello at the New England Conservatory and is a member of the Borromeo String Quartet. With the Borromeo Quartet she has played numerous concerts nationally and internationally, at notable venues and at many festivals. The Borromeo is currently Quartet-in-Residence at the New England Conservatory, Taos School of Music and the Gardner Museum. It collaborates with living composers, performing and recording music by Gunther Schuller, Steve Reich, Lera Auerbach, Derek Bermel, Osvaldo Golijov, Steve Mackey and Mohammed Fairouz. Kim earned a B.A from Curtis Institute, and an M.M. and Artist Diploma with Borromeo String Quartet from NEC. She plays on a Peregrino Zanetto cello, circa 1576.

Victor Rosenbaum, piano

Victor Rosenbaum was chair of the New England Conservatory piano department for more than ten years and director of the Longy School of Music for 15 years. He has performed widely as soloist and chamber music performer in the United States, Europe, Asia, Israel, and Russia, in such prestigious halls as Alice Tully Hall in New York and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. He has collaborated with such artists as Leonard Rose, Arnold Steinhardt, Robert Mann, and the Cleveland and Brentano String Quartets, among others. Festival appearances have included Tanglewood, Rockport, Yellow Barn, Kneisel Hall, Kfar Blum (Israel) and Musicorda, where he is on the faculty. He has been soloist with the Indianapolis and Atlanta symphonies and the Boston Pops. An accomplished composer and conductor, Rosenbaum gives master classes and lectures on pedagogy issues and interpretive analysis worldwide. His highly praised recording of Schubert is on Bridge Records.  Rosenbaum is Music Director of the Music for Peace Concert Series.
