In this concert, we bring you glorious music from the Age of Enlightenment. Our program spans over a century - from Telemann to Mozart - and includes well-loved as well as (were betting) never-heard gems. This will be a rare opportunity to hear the entrancing sound of the fortepiano in an intimate setting with beautiful acoustics.
The masterful Chris Bagan, who guided us through Bach's Musical Offering concert last year, is back by popular demand; Kathleen Kajioka joins us on viola.
As always, your ticket includes our fabulous intermission food and drink. Come play in the light with us!
Here's a little about Kathleen:
Praised for her "fire and chamber music smarts" (Globe and Mail), Canadian violinist and violist Kathleen Kajioka maintains a varied career, moving easily between musical worlds ranging from early to modern, from pop to Middle Eastern. She is a member of the bi-continental baroque chamber group Ensemble Masques. She teaches Historical Performance at the Royal Conservatory of Musics Glenn Gould School, and brings all her musical experiences to bear in her role as broadcaster and co-music director at the New Classical FM in Toronto, and as host of The Concert Series, airing across Canada on Vision TV.
and about Chris:
Christopher Bagan is a versatile artist, equally at home on modern and historical keyboard instruments. He is in high demand as a collaborator, chamber musician and basso continuo specialist. He has performed with many of the leading baroque singers, instrumentalists and conductors in North America and abroad. He is harpsichordist for the Canadian Opera Company and Opera Atelier and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from the University of British Columbia.
