RIDE HAS BEEN CANCELLED....
...15 miles with fellow Chainlink cyclists.
TOUR
...the sustainable Rooftop Farm at Uncommon Ground, which grows more than 1,000 pounds of fresh food for the restaurant every year.
EAT
...a hearty lunch, family-style and specially prepared. Locally-grown and seasonal specialties await.
The Chainlink Community is teaming up with Uncommon Ground to bring Chicago cyclists a day of fun. Start with a morning bike ride followed by a behind-the-scenes look at how the greenest restaurant in the US supplies its kitchen locally - by growing vegetables on the roof! Then head downstairs for lunch - all included.
Join other cyclists for a social pedal through some blooming Northside neighborhoods and take in the greenery of summer. We will depart from a park a short distance from the restaurant. (Sign up to find out the exact location.)
The ride ends at the Uncommon Ground, where the rooftop farmers lead a tour of the innovative urban garden growing atop their building. What are they growing up there? How much dirt can one Chicago roof hold? Answers to these questions and more, followed by a group lunch featuring delectable local cuisine. Take advantage of a unique opportunity to learn about sustainability and Chicago's environment while enjoying some great company and tasty fare. Check out a sample of the lunch menu here:
