Nightwood Theatre and the Ismaili Centre present a 7th Cousins production

Last chance to see the cousins in Toronto!

Nightwood Theatre is very happy to announce that Brubaker and Brubacher are returning for a final pop-up presentation of 7th Cousins in Toronto, as a part of our 2017-18 season, presented in partnership with the Ismaili Centre Toronto and West Hill United Church!

Join Erin and Christine for one of two performances in June at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto (49 Wynford Drive, North York, ON). Audience members will also have the opportunity to experience a special 30-minute tour of the beautiful Ismaili Centre, which shares a gorgeous park space with the stunning Aga Khan Museum.

June 2 - post-show tour at 8:30 p.m.
June 3 - pre-show tour at 3:00 p.m.

In the summer of 2015, Erin and Christine walked 700 km, from Pennsylvania to Ontario. A stranger asked if they were walking to learn how to work and be together. This was certainly part of it. Another part of the journey was encounters with strangers... Here's what they had to say about that element of the experience:

We  two politically left, secular, Canadian women  walked through the American Bible Belt during the summer before the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and were hosted by a series of people with whom we had next to nothing in common. Yet, while we were with these people, they welcomed us into their homes and treated us with the care of family. We constantly questioned what conversations to enter and how far to go. How should a guest challenge a generous host? We felt our hosts were attempting to assess us with a lexicon that didnt match our own. Sometimes we just listened to answer their need to be heard. We are still unpacking it, and will continue to do so with each performance. Juxtaposed with this was the navigation of our own relationship. Facing the challenges of being with another person for 32 days, all day and night.
