It gets better. Thats what the high school teachers, coaches, and counselors tell Billy. He knows thats bullshit. So does Tom, the middle-aged man who rescues him from a gang of violent senior boys. Tom seems like the kind of guy Billy needs in his life. But when he gets into Toms car, can Billy trust where this older man is about to take him?

Bios
Jim Dalglish (Playwright / Co-director) is the author of more than 25 plays shorts, one acts and full lengths. These have been produced across the United States as well as in Great Britain and Ireland. Many have won awards and two have been anthologized. His plays Bark Park and Unsafe received their world premieres at Cotuit Center for the Arts. CCftAs production of Unsafe has been nominated as Best New Play by the Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE). Winners will be announced this April. Jim would like to thank Rob Phelps for being the best theatre widow anyone could ask for and to David Keuhn and the CCftA for providing such a vital and welcoming environment for performing artists. Nick Bucchianeri (BOY) is a junior at Sturgis East High School in Hyannis. He has been an avid participant in theater since the beginning of freshman year, starting out as a stagehand at Cotuit Center for the Arts. The first show he ran spot-light for was Grey Gardens, which showed on the mainstage at Cotuit. Since then, his love for theater has exponentially grown, as he has worked backstage on over a dozen shows. After working at Cotuit for a few months, he decided to try himself on the stage instead of in the background. His first show--save for a third grade solar system show where he played the moon--was Antigone, where he was a member of the Greek Chorus. After this he continued to participate in theater, both at his school and at Cotuit. He has been in seven shows thus far, and is currently working in his school show - in addition to Lines in the Sand - which is taken to the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild festival in February. He is thrilled to again be working with director Jim Dalglish and actor Tony Travostino, on this breathtaking piece. His role in Lines in the Sand, is his first major role in a show and he is excited to finally be able to work with such a complex and intriguing role and show.

Ian Ryan (Co-director) is delighted to have been invited back to Cotuit to be part of its ambitious staging of new works. Ian directed last years hit Sordid Lives, and Gregory Hischaks The Center of Gravity at CCftA, and and has appeared as part of CCftAs Second Wednesday readings series. His work as a voice-over artist includes industrial films, an automated telephone directory (work for which he is both proud and deeply sorry), and as host of a local radio show on Cape Cod Community Colleges WKKL. Acting credits include Monty Pythons Spamalot, (Bedevere), Circle Mirror Transformation, (Schultz), Our Countrys Good, (Ralph Clark), All My Sons, (George Deaver), and Playboy of the Western World (Philly Cullen) (CapeRep). Ian originated the roles of Truman in Mr. Dalglishs play of the same name, and Hiram Suslack in Arthur Devines original play Winter Wheat. Ians 10-minute play, 10DEF, will be produced at CapeRep later this year, and he is developing classes for CCtfA in Public Speaking, Voice and Diction for Non-singing Roles, and Small-group Scene Study.
Jackie Reeves (Artist / Graphic Designer) Cape Cod based artist Jackie Reeves uses mixed media to bring together figurative and abstract elements in her art. Her career began in graphic design and illustration but she soon became a mural painter for 15 years. Currently, drawing, painting and collage are her primary media for expression, however, she has contributed to numerous theatrical productions for set design, scenic and costume painting, giant puppet design and performance. Jackie exhibits her work in museums and galleries throughout New England. (www.jackiereeves.com)
Sam Holmstock (Composer) is one of the co-founders of the world fusion ensemble, ENTRAIN, and has performed with this incredible group of talented musicians for 20+ years. In addition to his work with ENTRAIN, Sam has had the honor of playing music with artists such as Babatunde Olatunji, Bo Diddley, Gil Scott-Heron, Kate and James Taylor, Bob Weir, and even Bill Clinton. Sam Holmstock earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition from Berklee College of Music. His World Percussion Studies brought him under the tutelage of such percussion notables as Robin Lobe, Jerry Gonzales, Roberto Borell, Louis Romero and culminated with Alejandro Guerra at The National School of Music in Havana, Cuba. Currently Sam is a Faculty Member at Cotuit Center for the Arts and is Principle Facilitator at Drum Strategies For Healing. Working with PTSD Vets, Alzheimers, Stroke and Brain Injury Patients, Autistic Adults and Incarcerated Teens
