Body So Fluorescent - Amanda Cordner
BODY SO FLUORESCENT asks difficult questions while still remaining light-hearted and inviting. It is a piece that explores terrain around blackness, playing otherness, and relational oppressions. It is absolutely poignant in the current cultural climate, and is steeped with empathy.
AMANDA CORDNER made her solo-show debut this year at the 37th Annual Rhubarb Festival with a piece called BODY SO FLUORESCENT co-created with David di Giovanni.
Her recent work includes: Twelfth Night: A Puppet Epic (Shakey-Shake & Friends) Edmond (Storefront), Bitchcraft (Pure Carbon), Antigone (Alumnae Theatre).
She is an alumni of York University's Faculty of Theatre and since graduating she has gone on to create theatre and performance art with several festivals/companies within TO: Toronto Fringe Festival, Lab Cab Festival, Festival of Clowns, Nuit Blanche.
She is also proud to be a part of the cast of The Village Green, a witty and comedic web-series produced by Applebox Film Company. Amanda is looking forward to what next year has in store for her creatively.
DAVID DI GIOVANNI is a theatre director pursuing his MFA in Directing at York University. Some directing credits include: BODY SO FLUORESCENT (February 2016), Play it Again, Phaedra (December 2012), MAP Season One (Sept 2011 May 2012) at the Mainline Theatre, Holy Tranity! at the historic Cafe Cleopatra (June 2013), The Last Days of Karl Nimeni at the ARENA festival.. der jungen Kunst in Erlangen, Germany (July 2012), and assistant director on Corpus directed by Liz Valdez (Nov 2014), Twelfth Night directed by Amanda Kellock (July 2015) and Hamlet directed by Birgit Schreyer-Duarte in High Park.
