"On each of their releases to date, Buke and Gase have never been anything less than absolutely thrilling" Pitchfork
Hudson and Brooklyn-based Buke and Gase are Arone Dyer on the "buke" (a self-modified six-string former baritone ukulele) and Aron Sanchez on the "gase" (a guitar-bass hybrid of his own creation). Both of them play double duty, also mobilizing a small army of foot percussion. These instruments are then filtered through various pedals, amplifiers and homemade inventions to create a surprisingly complex sound. Dyer's supermelodic vocal lines weave through the beautiful yet unwieldy musical matter, balancing light and dark, calamity and control. Their musical multi-tasking makes for live shows that are visually unexpected and sonically explosive.
A favorite of NPR Music and the Radiolab podcast, the duo have toured Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas most recently as the hand-picked opener for Battles autumn 2015 tours.

As a teenager in Atlanta, Blake Fusilier grew up feeling different. While his neighbors aspired to rep their neighborhoods & sign to hot local labels like LaFace & SoSoDef, Blake brooded over the stories of Edgar Allen Poe, picked up the violin & hoped to play as well as Itzhak Perlma. Moving to Boston for college, he picked up a guitar & joined a moody, rock band that toured with The Joy Formidable and opened for Queens of the Stone Age. Now in Brooklyn, Fusilier is making music that unifies all these sound worlds.
Stereogum said "Fusiliers voice is smooth and sultry, accentuated appropriately by a sexy-ass driving bassline..." saying "The sexual tension...is brazenly palpable." TheRevue.ca called his first singles "the most creative songs to come out this year." Some have compared his sound to a synthesis of James Brown and Nine Inch Nails and The Deli Magazine recently nominated him as New York's "emerging artist of the month." |
