Naomi Moon Siegel + Tomo Nakayama
Doors 730 Show 8 All Ages
Naomi Moon Siegel is a composer, trombonist, producer and music educator whose work is geared toward creating authentic expression and connection. With haunting trombone folk melodies, fantastical soundscapes and tight grooves, Siegel performs the music from her 2016 release Shoebox View. Featuring Sean Woolstenhulme on guitar and Ryan Burns on keyboards, her music creates cinematic space that is both introspective and celebratory. She is one half of the folk/punk/jazz duo Syrinx Effect, a member of Wayne Horvitzs Royal Room Collective Music Ensemble. In 2012 she received the Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award for Emerging Artist of the Year.
Tomo Nakayama is a singer and songwriter from Seattle, whose work both as a solo artist and with his chamber pop band Grand Hallway have been praised by NPR, New York Times, and KEXP. Known for his crystalline high-tenor voice, intricate fingerpicking, cinematic production style, and simple, poetic lyrics influenced by the images of the Pacific Northwest, Tomos music has drawn comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon, and Sigur Ros. He has also composed music for film and television, and starred alongside Ellen Page as an actor in Lynn Sheltons Sundance Grand Jury nominated movie Touchy Feely. He was Artist in Residence at Seattles Town Hall, during which time he wrote and recorded his solo debut album, Fog On The Lens, co-produced and mixed by Yuuki Matthews (The Shins, David Bazan) and released by Porchlight Records (U.S.) and & Records (Japan). For the records release, Tomo and Yuuki played an astounding 14 shows in 1 day throughout Seattle highlighting various independent small businesses. This was followed by a successful tour of Japan. Fog On The Lens spent 8 weeks on the CMJ Top 200 and was named Album of the Month by Seattle Met.
