dreamcatchr + Sleeping Lessons

dreamcatchr is an indie rock band from Seattle, WA formed in the spring of 2015. The story began five years ago when Raven MacDaniels (founder, guitar) first ventured into songwriting; toiling away with an electric guitar and a loop machine in an empty bedroom, weaving the musings of a dark mind into soft ballads that never strayed far from their origins. Raven discovered friend Shannon Clarks raw vocal talent and immediately knew her spirit and voice would pair with the songs brooding undertones and optimistic energy. Additional members Lalo Martinez (drums), Ben Dorcy (rhythm guitar) and Ian DeBorja (bass) leant their own ideas and gave life to the sound that is now dreamcatchrs dynamic and melodic style.
After their sold out debut performance at The Rendezvous and a bill at Neumos they began work on their debut EP, Night Terrors, which was released on January 28, 2016. Their energetic and engaging live performances are gaining them a reputation as a band to watch out for and theyre excited to continue evolving and contributing in the Seattle music scene.
Six years have passed since the dissolution of their previous band, but recent tragedy was not without a silver lining as the members of Sleeping Lessons were reunited and refocused on creating together again.
Following the death of his son, lead singer and guitarist Charlie Deane prescribed himself music as therapy, and the band's debut album, Red Sprites, is the product of that personal development.
On their first single, Breathe, the groove pulsates in unison with the band's reminder to breathe in, breathe out, laying the foundation for the albums remaining seven songs. Gracefully, Deane holds nothing back in revealing the depths of his struggle atop a synth-heavy backdrop as were invited to witness first-hand his catharsis.
Sleeping Lessons will be celebrating the single's release at this year's Big BLDG Bash festival in Seattle on June 4th.
