The Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra returns to the UWM Recital Hall on Sunday May 15, at 4:00pm, with musical director and acclaimed classical guitarist Rene Izquierdo.
This recital features two of our favorite collaborators, Elina Chekan and Robin Pluer.
True to our roots as a 116-year-old orchestra, we will be playing repertoire from the heyday of the Mandolin Orchestras, 1890 to 1930.
PLUS: Elina Chekan, our frequent guest conductor, will be our featured soloist. We will be playing the Guitar Concerto No 1 in D, by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco, arranged specifically for the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra.
AND: We get to have the incomparable Robin Pluer join us for some tin-pan-alley classics. Nobody brings quite the same level of class to those standards as the wonderful Ms. Pluer.
