Idaho Junior Jammer History For the last 30 years, the Idaho Junior Jammer Fiddlers have performed in Idaho and around the country. Formed by local music teacher Roberta Pearce, the Jammers and her beginning group, The Little Hoedowners, perform two annual shows a year: the Country Harvest Hoedown in November and the Country Gospel Hoedown in March. The groups also spend the months in between performing at events around the area.
Pearce's fiddle group has traveled far and wide. They performed at the first President Bush's Inaugural in Washington D.C. A little closer to home they were honored to play during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and they are a staple at the National Old Time Fiddle Contest in Weiser, Idaho. In the fall of 2007, the Jammers were asked to perform at Governor Otter's ranch for the United States-Korean Trade talks. In February 2008, the Jammers where honored to play during the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Winter Invitational Games. Many Jammers have become State and National fiddle champions at regional fiddle contests. "I feel very proud of course," says Pearce when asked about how she feels when one of her Jammers places in a contest. "In a sense, it's like that child is one of my own children up there competing on that stage. I just couldn't be prouder."
Katrina Nicolayeff Katrina is a 3-time Grand Master Fiddle Champion and a 4-time National Fiddle Champion. She was born in Nampa and now lives in Meridian with her husband Alex and their children A.J. and Chloe. She has been teaching fiddle for over 10 years. She serves as the co-director for the Idaho Junior Jammer Fiddlers. Just last month Katrina performed at the Grand Ole Opry, accompanied by Riders In the Sky.
Klancie Seiler Klancie has been playing the fiddle for 12 years with the Jammers as a student and teacher. She has competed and done well in many fiddle contests. She made her judging debut this year at the Idaho Open Fiddle Contest. Klancie is a 2-time National FFA Talent participant, performing during the 2012 and 2013 National FFA Conventions in Indianapolis and Louisville. A highlight of the conventions was being chosen to perform the National Anthem each year in front of approximately 12,000 people. While in Louisville she was able to travel to Nashville for a day where she and a friend were allowed to perform a song on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium - an experience she will never forget and one she hopes to repeat someday.
