This event is a musical and artistic celebration a local monadnock, Arabia Mountain through the commissioning of new music and art, this performance builds public appreciation of the The Davidson-Arabia Mountain Preserve. The Artists, inclusive of composers, poets, photographers, and visual artists, have created art directly inspired by the inherent qualities and living ecosystems of the Preserve.
This spectacular environment is unique to Georgia and the Piedmont Region and will also be the location of the art presentation. The granite outcrop offers an exceptional home to lichen, moss, plants, and trees who have formulated an existence completely symbiotic with their extreme environment.
To preserve the fragile environment all guests must RSVP and we have a limited number of spots available.
Event Details
Participants will meet at the Davidson Arabia Mountain Nature Center for a reception and orientation at 2:00pm. You'll be treated to tea made from native plants. at 2:30pm you'll be taken on a guided hike through the forest at the base of Arabia Mountain where you'll find artists waiting for you, with their inspired pieces.
You'll wind your way to the peak of the mountain where even more performers await you. You will have time to explore the mountain and see the bright red diamorpha blooming in solution pits in this lunar like landscape.
This celebration was formed from collaboration between composers, artists, and public green spaces. It is our hope that it will develop an environmentally creative connection between this place, artists, and guests.
